Early Childhood Education Intern
The new Science Playground and Discovery Lab are OMSI's areas where young children are able to learn and explore in fun, educational settings. Interns in this area assist staff in the planning, development and presentation of activities and maintenance of the space; assist parents and children in experiencing the activities and exhibits; and help to ensure the safety of our youngest visitors and their families.

The intern will work on the Discovery Boxes project. The main goal of the Discovery Boxes is to give young children hands on and authentic experiences around big ideas. Educators introduce the ideas through storybooks, open-ended explorations of real objects, open-ended questions and conservations, investigations, and role playing.

This project involves creating developmental appropriate, cross-cirricular activities with the ideas and objects contained in the box. The activities will be assembled into a laminated booklet that will be available for all educators and volunteers to use. more info...
