The Museum Host Volunteer is responsible for providing great customer service to museum visitors. The Museum Host moves through all areas of the museum and assists visitors by answering questions, giving directions, maintaining a safe environment, and assisting with problem solving. Bilingual Spanish Lunch Facilitator Volunteer
Spanish Lunch is an informal, hour-long, weekly session for OMSI staff and volunteers who wish to improve their Spanish speaking skills. OMSI seeks a native Spanish speaker (bilingual English-Spanish) with direct teaching experience to plan activities for and lead these weekly sessions. more info...

Visitor Services Greeter
The goal of Visitor Services is to provide OMSI's visitors with friendly, professional service in a fast-paced environment. Volunteers will often be involved in visitor interaction: welcoming and greeting visitors, taking tickets, and queuing submarine tours. Other duties may include work in the OMNIMAX, the Planetarium, and other locations throughout the museum. more info...

Adult Mentor to Youth
Mentor to Youth Volunteers are responsible for interacting with high school age volunteers and helping them adjust to the workplace environment. It is a critical position that supports OMSI educator staff and provides youth volunteers with a positive workplace experience. Youth volunteers are a key component of OMSI’s volunteer program. Mentors provide critical support to youth volunteers, ensuring that they have a positive, productive volunteer experience. more info...

Submarine Tour Guide
The USS Blueback is a diesel-electric submarine of the Barbel class, launched in 1959. It was one of the first subs to have a “teardrop-shaped” hull, and it was the last non-nuclear submarine in the U.S. Navy, decommissioned in 1990. It was brought to OMSI in 1994 and is maintained entirely by volunteers. The Blueback is open for organized tours during daylight hours when OMSI is open. more info...

Vernier Technology Lab Volunteer Educator
The Vernier Technology Lab features a variety of units on different aspects of technology, including Security, Biomedical, Robots and Computers, Communications, and Household Technology. The units rotate frequently, so that each time visitors come to OMSI, they will find something new to do in the lab. From taking apart everyday appliances to exploring the inside of a computer, volunteers help visitors understand how technology works! more info...

Life Science Volunteer Educator
The Life Science Hall invites visitors to explore the human body. Exhibits include pre-natal development and the structure and function of the human skeletal system, organs, and brain. The Volunteers in Life Science invite visitors to explore the nature of human growth and development, the structure and function of the human body, or learn about the comparative anatomy and adaptations of the diverse group of animals living in the Life Science Lab. more info...

General Evaluation Volunteer
The Evaluation & Visitor Studies Division seeks a volunteer to assist with evaluation projects. Tasks will vary and may include web-based research, data management, possible data collection, and general office duties. This is an ongoing position and would involve working in the Evaluation & Visitor Studies department for a four-hour shift once a week at a set time. more info...
