International Space Station Uplink From OMSI! On February 25, 2003, OMSI was proud to participate in a very special event. Students from Silverton, Oregon - the hometown of Astronaut Dr. Donald Pettit - had the chance to talk with Dr. Pettit live via satellite uplink from the International Space Station. The students asked Dr. Pettit and his fellow Astronauts questions about space science and life aboard the space station. Even Dr. Pettit's 9th grade science teacher was there, and had the chance to speak with his former student. Read a transcript and check out photos from the broadcast.

Videoconference with NASA's Johnson Space Center: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 Students from several schools - including OMSI's International Public Science Day Partner, Franklin High School - and other special guests were invited to OMSI for a special videoconference with Dr. Jack Bacon of NASA's Johnson Space Center. In addition to the guests at OMSI, students from around Oregon were also able to partipate in the conversation with Senators Smith and Wyden and Dr. Bacon via the Oregon Access Network. Prior to the videoconference, Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith announced a special new $1 million federal appropriation to OMSI to fund distance learning projects on space.
